Pontefract 1 rounded off their Yorkshire Premier League title defence with a 15th win out of 16 while Cleethorpes finished with the wooden spoon despite a gallant final-night victory.
Having secured the title two weeks ago, Ponte 1 officially held the trophy aloft on Wednesday night, celebrating in fine style with a 19-6 home victory over mid-table Ferriby Hall.
A surprise five-game defeat for no.1 Patrick Rooney (perhaps still fatigued after returning from the recent New Zealand and Australian Opens) against an inspired Caleb Boy was the only blot on Ponte's copybook.
Otherwise, French second string Laouenan Loaec breezed past Ed Bidder, Adam Taylor also downed Fiona Moverley in three and Tom Bamford dropped just one game in defeating Yusef Forster.
Somewhat fittingly, the last act of a triumphant evening and season was left to club captain Matt Godson and it proved a thrilling finale. Godson battled back from 1-0 and 2-1 down against Samuel Ince-Carvalhal to win a cracking deciding game 11/9, much to the Ponte crowd's delight.
The only incomplete narrative heading into the final week was the duel to avoid finishing bottom between Hallamshire and Cleethorpes.
Cleethorpes started the night 14 points adrift and it proved too big a gap to bridge despite a valiant 15-8 victory at 2023/24 champions Doncaster.
The visitors' lower order of Reece Newell and Alexander Bendy laid a perfect platform and no.2 Louie Truman later completed the victory with a tight three-game win over Joel Arscott. World no.81 Asia Harris and no.1 Rob Thirst earned consolation wins for Doncaster, who finish fourth.
Hallamshire narrowly avoided the wooden spoon after falling to a 13th defeat of the campaign, this time 19-6 at sixth-placed Queens.
First team debutant Daniel Sarkissian started the evening positively for the Sheffield side with a marathon five-game victory over former world no.15 Sarah Campion, but it turned sour from then onwards for the visitors.
Phil Taylor powered to a three-game win at no.4, then Danny Bray and Jordan Hardwick settled the result. Veteran James Earles added gloss to Queens' victory with a 3/1 win over Kiwi Temwa Chileshe at top string.
Despite finishing in bottom spot, Cleethorpes will maintain their place in the Yorkshire Premier League for 2026/27 as Woodfield's withdrawal this season meant there were only nine teams in the division.
The top tier will be restored to 10 teams next season with the addition of the winners of Division 1. That currently looks likely to be Chapel Allerton who, at the time of writing, led the table by 26 points from Harrogate 2 with two matches remaining.
In the Premier League's other match on Wednesday, Harrogate claimed the runners-up spot with a punishing 20-1 victory over Pontefract 2.
Skipper Ross Kneller kicked things off with a four-game win over Danny Siddall but the rest of the evening saw Isaac Green, Gabriel Cox, former world no.20 Chris Simpson and Welsh international Rhys Evans all win handsomely in three.
